John Cale’s most recent single from the bizarrely titled ‘Shifty Adventures In Nookie Wood’ is Living With You, and it’s received a remix from Laurel Halo to accompany it. Like Halo’s stark rework of Kuedo’s Work, Live & Sleep In Collapsing Space last year, it completely tears the original to pieces, transforming it into a wash of sound and atmospherics that barely resembles its source material – and, like that rework, it’s an unsettling and incredibly effective piece of music. Whispers of Cale’s vocal drift into the mix towards the end, whilst hints of piano also crop up throughout, but that’s about it in terms of conventional elements.
