Drinking coffee makes music weirder, say experts According to a recent study, if you have lots of caffeine it will make your ears hallucinate, seriously.
Music fans and coffee addicts be aware – according to a study conducted at Australia’s La Trobe University, caffeine makes you hear things that aren’t there. Subjects were tanked up on the black stuff, played white noise and pressed a buzzer every time they thought they were being played White Christmas. The Bing Cosby track was never played, but – surprise, surprise – the more you drink, the more you trip.
A less scientific study was conducted by music journalist Elliott Sharp for Philadelphia Weekly, who listened back to his reviews off the buzz, and admitted “the worst case scenario’s true: most of what I write about music is a result of psychosis and not close listening.”
